Used Air Compressors

By John Francis Used Air Compressors: The Best Places to Find a Great Deal Buying a used air compressor is a lot like buying a used car. Air compressors can be as expensive as cars, and its tempting to try and get the best deal possible by buying a used machine. Unlike cars, though, the market for used air compressors is not as big. The technology for air compressors hasnt changed much in the last decade, and air compressors last between 10 and 30 years depending on quality. Business owners often invest in a new compressor and hang onto it until it completely dies, or they will lease or rent one, or more, from rental companies at a cheaper price. If you are looking to save money, however, and the thought of buying a used air compressor appeals to you, there are a variety of places that you can turn to for a deal. First, you can buy used air compressors directly from the manufacturer. Buying a piece of used equipment from the manufacturer is more reassuring because its more likely that the information that they provide you will be accurate. They, at least, are likely to know about their own products. Terms and conditions vary, but in some cases, purchases may come with different warranties or guarantees. Unfortunately, your purchases are limited to the specific brands the manufacturer produces, as well as the price of that specific brand. Your ability to compare prices is greatly reduced. Unless you are looking for an air compressor made by a specific manufacturer, this may not be your best source for a great deal. You can also buy used air compressors from companies that specialize in air compressors specifically. Some of these companies have been in business for years, are knowledgeable about the products they sell, and may even have maintenance guarantees and toll free numbers for assistance. These companies also provide more search options, so you can find used air compressors by a variety of manufacturers at a variety of prices. Finally, you can buy used air compressors either from auction sites on the Internet or from bargain companies that may specialize in a variety of different products. You can also buy from individual owners. These purchases often entail very few, if any, guarantees. In order to make a wise decision, you have to be self-educated about used air compressors and know exactly what youre looking for. While this route involves the most potential pitfalls, it is also a way to find the best deals. Assessing your needs and your knowledge about air compressors will help you decided which route is the best for you to take in purchasing a used air compressor. http://aircompressorsweb.com How to decide between the variety of Air Compressors available Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Francis http://EzineArticles.com/?Used-Air-Compressors&id=196375 phentermine with no prescription required phentermine without prescription phentermine online with mastercard paradise pharmacy phentermine

Cell Phone Accessories - The Must Haves

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Sara_Wells]Sara Wells Cell phones are a staple in business and home life. They are no longer a luxury, but a necessity in daily living. Having your cell phone at hand and available for all or your daily chores and emergencies requires the right accessories to keep it up and running, and to keep you safe. Here are the top must have accessories for any regular cell phone user. 1. Cell Phone Battery, and one to grow on A quality, long-lasting battery is key to maximize talk-time on your phone. Each battery has an expected amount of time in use before it needs a charge. There is no problem in recharging a cell phone battery before it has been fully used, nor is it an issue to only partially charge your phone. However, avoid storing a fully-charged battery for long periods of time as this can have a detrimental effect on its life. If you are a cell phone user that talks your way through the day, it is probably a good idea to invest in a back-up battery. Keeping a backup battery ready for use, will allow you to keep working or make a call in times of emergency when you have already run down your first. 2. Charger for home and the road If your battery is the most important cell accessory, than your charger is the first-runner-up. One charger for your home or work is sufficient to get by, but for true convenience invest in a car charger as well. Chargers are relatively inexpensive, and tend to last longer than your phone will. The ease of being able to charge at home as well as in transit is well worth the added cost. 3. Handsfree If you havent seen a news report on the dangers or driving and talking on your cell phone, you havent turned on your TV. Using a handsfree headset attachment with your phone allows you to continue to talk during your commute or daily errands, while keeping both hands on the wheel. A variety of headsets with various single or double ear pieces are available that provide comfort and safety while on the road. Purchasing these few accessories are all you really need to get by. Dont forget the fun and fashion of your mobile phone. Have some fun and express your personality by choosing some fun accessories as well such as phone covers in your favorite color or pattern, ring tones that play the latest tunes, and cases to make your phone drop-proof. You can find any of the fun and useful cell phone accessories you need online or at your local stores. Sara Wells is a succesful writer for CellAccessoryZone.com. Simply Weight Loss — Losing Weight is Easy if You Stop Dieting

By Michael Smith, MD In theory, if you’re starving, exercising less helps conserve energy. But obviously you’re going to place finding food and eating at the top of your to do list. But dieters today do exactly what they shouldn’t do…exercise less if they were to starve and start dieting when trying to lose weight. The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System recently published their findings from a 21 state study with over 112,000 participants on how weight loss methods affect dieter’s success. Each participant was placed into one of four categories based on the weight control method they used. 1. Increasing physical activity 2. Eating fewer calories 3. Combination of fewer calories with exercise 4. None (not trying to lose weight) For those who were trying to lose weight, the most common weight practices were eating fewer calories without other methods (32.3% of women, 24.1% of men) and eating fewer calories with exercise (33.8% of women, 19.9% of men). Increasing physical activity as a sole weight-loss practice was reported by 3.4% of women and 4% of men. The last statistic on exercising without dieting is where I get lost. It’s hard for me to understand how only 3% of women and 4% of men use exercise as their sole weight loss practice. Is anything wrong with this? Yes, we are wrong. The entire weight loss industry is wrong! It all reminds me of a slogan from a few years ago, “Simply Weight Loss.” It represented a return to diet basics. And that’s when it hit me, a return to diet basics is what is wrong. Dieting is Wrong You’re too heavy and you need to lose weight. The extra pounds pushing you above your ideal weight, resulted from a chronic state of positive energy balance…eating more calories (energy) than the body needs. This is usually followed by the question, “Why doesn’t my body just get rid of the extra energy?” I totally agree. Just get rid of all that extra energy, send it on it’s way. Unfortunately, the laws of thermodynamics are what mess things up. The tough law to get around involves the whole idea that you can’t create or destroy energy. It’s constant. Since you can’t simply destroy energy, you have no choice but to use the extra energy (packed into calories) or store it. So, how does this make dieting wrong? Dieting only works in theory. In theory, dieting, which is synonymous with calorie restriction, causes total body energy to decrease in hopes of creating an energy deficit. To make up for this deficit, the body will tap into energy stores to cover immediate needs. So, in theory, dieting causes weight loss. Is this what occurs in dieters? Yes and no. The Best Method for Using Stored Energy Dieting, a.k.a. calorie restriction, slows down the resting metabolic rate, throwing the body into a state of energy conservation. This is not conducive of weight loss but instead is perfect for gaining weight. Those dieters that do lose weight and keep it off, practice my concept of Slow & Low. Now what? Exercise. What is the best method for using the extra energy we didn’t use in the past? Exercise. Start an exercise program first, one that centers on muscle tone and strength, then use dieting on an as needed basis to lower total body energy. The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System published perfect statistics. We should be using exercise as a sole weight loss method more often. To Healthy Living! Dare To Be Different

By Alyssa Avant When I was a teenager I just wanted to fit in. I thought to myself most days, Why cant I be more like ________? (You know her girls, so fill in the blank). To have the shoes she wore, or perfect skin, or just the right haircut would make everything perfect. I would strive to be more and more like her. I soon discovered that it was not really helping because no one was taking notice that I was dressed like her, or wore my hair in the same style. So, I soon gave up, and went on to try to be more like me. Then, I began to get more and more involved in my church youth group. I was 13 or 14 and all my friends hung out at church, going to Bible study, youth choir, and to my youth ministers house after church or wed make a trip to Taco Bell in the next town. Those were good times. The best part is that in those Bible studies I learned, that I did not really want to be like that girl at school, I wanted to be different. The Bible tells us that we are made in the image of God. This is a true privilege that only humans can claim. When God created the world, humans were the only part of creation that he created in his image. He also made each of us unique. The only person God wants us to try and be more like is his Son, Jesus Christ. When I discovered this truth, I began to pursue it, with all that I was. I began to dare to be different from my friends or peers. Surprisingly, this was much more fulfilling than trying to be like the girl at school. I began to stand out. People took much more notice that I was doing things different than when I was conforming to the norm. It might not have always been easy, but it was the way to go. I challenge you to take the road less traveled. Because For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. Matthew 7:13 (NIV). I know that you will benefit from taking the proper path, I sure did! Alyssa Avant is a Christian Author and Speaker who helps moms connect with their daughters. Temping: A Backdoor Entrance to New Careers

By Scott Brown If youre in between jobs or having trouble finding the career you want, you might want to consider temping. Its a great way to avoid having gaps on your resume and you may also get a chance to learn something new. If youre looking to change careers but dont know where to start, its also a great way to gain experience without making a life change. You can temp for a little while and then decide if its time to change fields. Experience will get you everywhere so go out and get some Listing it on your resume A lot of people are afraid to take a temp job because theyre afraid of how it will look on their resume. But keep in mind that temping is not what it used to be. If you present it the right way, an interviewer will focus on your skills and experience, not that fact that you held a temp job. Temping jobs are great for mid-life career changers, as they can help you find yourself in terms of your new career. People often take temping jobs when they are in between jobs and need some income for the time being. However, some temp jobs last longer than permanent jobs. Simply list your temp job(s) by the employer(s) you worked for. If you list the job as Johnson Temp Agency if may hurt your chances of getting a permanent job. While theres nothing wrong with doing temporary work, we are often judged by the content of our resumes before we even meet an employer. List the job title, employer, and then the name of the agency to avoid unnecessary biases. For example: Administrative Assistant, ABC Corporation, New York, NY January 2004-present This way, if someone is quickly skimming your resume, they wont immediately see that you were/are employed as a temp. De-emphasize the temporary part These days regular jobs are sometimes just as temporary as temp jobs. Its a tough economy with a lot of competition. But your temping experience can be an advantage if you have gotten a lot out of it. Remember, if your stint as a temp was brief, you dont even have to list it all. However, if the experience (long or short) has benefited you as a professional, by all means, mention it Here are some quick reasons why you should mention your temping experience: You went above and beyond the call of duty at your temp job As a result, you have more skills, learned new programs, etc. You worked for a nationally recognized firm for a period of 6 months or more Remember, its your choice whether or not you even use the word temp. You might want to avoid using words like temporary or temp altogether. Just be honest if you are questioned about your work history. When it comes time for an interview, keep your spirits up. Be as upbeat as possible about your temping experience and share all the positive aspects that have molded you into the professional you are today. Keep in mind that your feelings on the subject will show through. So think of your temping experience as a good one and others will too! The Basics of Rose Gardens

By Elizabeth Passage There are two main classes of roses: Bush roses and climbing roses. These two classifications are based entirely on tendencies of growth. Bush roses grow from 1 foot to 6 feet in height and require no support. Climbing roses produce long canes each year and must be provided with some type of support. Bush Roses Bush roses include many types grouped according to flowering habit, winter hardiness, and other traits. These types are hybrid teas, floribundas. polyanthas, hybrid perpetuals, shrubs, old-fashioned, tree or standard, and miniature. Hybrid Teas: Hybrid teas are more widely grown and more popular than all other types of roses combined. They are the so-called monthly or everblooming roses, and are the ones grown in beds in rose gardens and by florists under glass. In fact, when the word “rose” is used, it generally suggests a hybrid tea variety. Most hybrid teas are winterhardy in the milder sections of the country, but varieties differ in cold resistance. In sections where winters are severe, practically all varieties need some protection. Floribundas: Floribunda roses bear their flowers in clusters, and the individual blooms of many closely resemble hybrid teas. They are increasing in popularity, especially for bed plantings where large numbers of flowers are wanted. As a rule floribunda varieties are hardy: they will tolerate more neglect than any other type of rose with the possible exception of some of the shrub species. While some are fine for cutting, they will not replace hybrid teas for this purpose. Polyanthas: Polyantha roses are distinguished from the floribundas by their smaller flowers, which are borne in large clusters. They are closely related to many of the climbing roses, having flower clusters very similar to them in form and size of individual florets. The polyanthas are hardy and may be grown in many sections where hybrid teas are difficult to grow. Their chief use is in bed plantings or in borders with other perennials. They are excellent for mass plantings. Hybrid Perpetuals: Hybrid perpetuals are the June roses of grandmother’s garden. Their flowers are large. Generally they lack the refinement of hybrid teas. As their name indicates, they are considered as ever-blooming types, although most of them do not bear continuously through the growing season as do hybrid teas. They usually develop large, vigorous bushes if given good cultural care and proper pruning. They are very hardy and stand low winter temperatures without protection. Shrub Roses: Shrub roses are actually a miscellaneous group of wild species, hybrids, and varieties that develop an open bush type of growth that is useful in general landscape work. They are hardy in all sections of the country. While their flowers do not equal in size or form those of other types of roses, many bear very attractive seed pods in the fall. They have very fine foliage and some are quite useful for hedges or screen plantings. Visit Merchants Passage for garden decor and accessories and Garden Gnomes. The Princess and the Frog

By Mindy Erickson The fairy tale is as old as time and its so simple. All we have to do is understand the metaphor to understand how men and women can have a great long-lasting relationship. The fairy tale begins with a frog that is not your typical frog. Apparently he was once a prince but due to some bad behavior on his part a wicked witch turned him into a frog. Whether the witch symbolizes his mother or a past romantic partner is irrelevant; the point is that the prince believes he was turned into a frog by the witch because he did something bad or wrong and it was the witch that made him feel inadequate by pointing out his poor behavior and reducing him to a frog. The witch knew he would only see his short-comings while in a different form; one that was not the way he thought of himself or comfortable with. The frog is now fearful of the power women have to reduce him to such a lowly being; the physical form given to him by the witch who thought his behavior was better represented by a frog instead of a handsome prince. The witch was not really wicked; she cared for the prince and her actions were to challenge him to grow and develop his character. The frog then had to take a good look at himself while living like a frog. He had no choice but to see himself as others saw him. He could not get away with the bad behavior he could as a prince because all the pomp and circumstance were no longer present to charm and distract anyone from who he really was inside. The frog had to focus on treating others as he would like to be treated. He was able to develop the compassion and empathy that escaped him as a prince when everything he desired was handed to him because of his status and good looks. He didnt appreciate what he had then because he didnt have to work for it. Enter the princess; a beautiful, smart, wealthy, well dressed woman that everyone admired. She was warm and genuine and appeared to have it all. She did not present herself to be incomplete or needy in any way just because she was not married. No, this princess was confident and secure and knew who she was. She came upon the frog by chance when she was out taking a walk and enjoying her surroundings, something she did every day. She was not seeking out anyone to fill a void; she was complete as is. She was a princess in every sense. When the frog spoke to her she was surprised because frogs could not speak. She did not question this but instead she listened to the frog and remained open-minded. She gave him the benefit of the doubt and after a while found him to be sincere and very likable even though he was a frog. Since the princess was as kind hearted as she was beautiful and confident, the frog desired her. As the story goes, the frog knew that if he got a princess to kiss him he would once again be a prince, but he could not reveal this secret or it would not work. The frog had to earn the kiss on his character alone. He was up to the challenge because he knew that one kiss from a princess would help him become all that he was capable of being, but he needed the princess to accept him as he was first. He had worked on his character and had become a true prince and now all he needed was to regain his human form to live out his dreams with the princess at his side, but he needed her to help make it happen or he would forever remain a frog. Since the princess was a self-aware secure and compassionate person it didnt bother her that she was enjoying the company of a frog. She was able to see past his ugly form and look deeper to find his true self. This is why she ultimately kissed him and to her surprise she found a handsome prince and together they lived happily ever after. So what can we learn from this fairy tale? Well first it doesnt have to be a fairy tale. Think of it as a metaphor to having the relationship you want. Lets face it; most men are frogs. The ones that do appear to be princes arent always so great once you get to know them on a deeper level, so they are really just frogs too. When you look beyond the surface of someones insecurities and inadequacies about themselves with compassion, you can see them differently and quite possibly for who they really are, but only if you are truly a princess and dont take it personally when your prince occasionally reverts to a frog. This means you know who you are; a princess - and you do not seek validation from him because you already have it from yourself. Its not always easy to spot a frog. Some have been frogs too long and are too negative and bitter about it to see that changing their ways will do them any good. They have become very skilled at presenting an image of a prince, but its only superficial and wont last once you get to know them. They will push you away when you start to get close enough to see them as the frog they are. They are arrogant but also deeply insecure that they are frogs and would rather pretend to be a prince than become one. The image they present is more important than actually becoming a prince again because they fear being vulnerable to a princess. It is not recommended that you beat yourself up over these frogs; there are plenty of other frogs out there that are willing to receive a princess and all that she has to offer. So how can you know the difference? As a princess who is secure and self-confident you should always trust your instincts. True princesses do not second-guess themselves or let a frog cast self-doubt upon her. If you feel the frog has done something to violate your personal beliefs or boundaries then speak up - have an opinion. This doesnt mean you should scold or reprimand the frog because he cant help being a frog sometimes. Instead you can gently and respectfully tell him what your boundaries are and how you expect to be treated. If he cant accept your standards after youve compassionately expressed them then he cannot see you for the princess that you are. He may be a frog that only feels comfortable around other frogs and may be trying to make you feel like a frog to feel better about himself. If he cant measure up to a princess and become a prince in her presence then he will always be a frog. The fairy tale is actually the reality about men, how women respond to them and how that can make or break a relationship. As women we were created to love, nurture, and inspire. We have a huge amount of empathy and compassion for others, especially our children but also our romantic partners. Just as we are hard-wired for this, men are not. They are capable of all these things, but it doesnt come to them as instinctively as it does for us and especially not without our constant encouragement, compassion and respect for who they are. Sometimes its hard to keep from pointing it out when your prince is acting like a frog but we must strive to inspire them to be the prince we know they can be while always remembering that we are a princess and deserve to be treated as such. Tips And Tricks From The “Dating Masters”

By Donovan Cruise So, let me ask you a quick question. Who do you think is the world’s BEST dating teacher? No, I’m not talking about myself, but thanks for thinking so… I think the answer might surprise you. The world’s best dating teacher is a WOMAN. But not just any woman. I’m talking about a woman who is “attractive and she knows it”. You know the one. I’m sure you’ve met her many times in your life. You’ve probably had several “crushes” on her over the last several years. And what did these “Super Babes” do when they realized that you “liked” them? Exactly. They did things that made your crush even MORE INTENSE… while at the same time NOT RETURNING the same level of interest. I’m going to suggest to you that we can BOTH learn a lot about dating by paying attention to what BEAUTIFUL WOMEN do when a man shows interest. Stay with me. This is about to get FASCINATING. A few years back, a couple of women got together and wrote a book called “The Rules”. You’ve probably heard of it. It’s the notorious book for women about how to get a man to commit to you and ultimately marry you. It’s quite a book. You should read it. In this book, the authors suggest all kinds of “unorthodox” techniques, like not calling men and rarely returning their calls, never approaching men, and generally playing “hard to get”. Why did this book and other sequel books go on to sell MILLIONS of copies? RIGHT! Because the techniques WORK to attract men and get them HOOKED. More on this particular topic later. AN INTERESTING PERSPECTIVE I want to ask you to think about something for a minute. Have you ever been dating a girl, and had her do something that made you feel nervous, jealous, insecure, or otherwise emotionally FREAKED? Maybe you were out with her, and she started talking to another guy… and while she was talking to him you could tell that she was enjoying herself just a little bit too much. Know what that feels like? You WANT to believe that it’s all in your imagination… and that she’s just having a friendly conversation with someone… but your GUT IS TWISTING while you watch it happening. Or maybe you have plans with a woman, but at the last minute (or even after the last minute) she calls and says “I don’t think I’m going to be able to make it tonight… I had something come up… OK, I’ll call you later”. She doesn’t say exactly WHAT came up, or WHY she can’t make it, or WHY she chose to call you thirty seconds before she was supposed to actually arrive at your house. And the worst part is that you say back to her, “Oh, don’t worry about it, it’s OK”, and then KICK YOURSELF afterwards… Ever been there? Or here’s one of my PERSONAL favorites… You meet a girl, call her on the phone and talk to her, and everything seems to be going GREAT. She tells you to call her later in the week and maybe she’ll be available. You think about her for the next three days… but when you try to call her, she never answers the phone… and never returns any of your calls. Yeah, it sucks. All of these types of situations SUCK. But the reality is that they all happen to most guys A LOT. THE FASCINATING PART Now I want to explain why I gave these particular examples. I want you to stop for a minute and think about something. I want you to ask yourself the following question, then answer it HONESTLY: DID THESE THINGS MAKE YOU THINK ABOUT AND WANT THE WOMAN WHO DID THEM MORE OR LESS? Be honest now. If you’re like most guys, then these particular things and others like them, made you think about the girl MORE. They made you wonder what she was doing and what her INTENTIONS were. And most of all, they made you WANT HER even more. Strange as it may seem, these things, which SHOULD make you RUN AWAY, actually make you WANT HER. What’s the deal? Well, just like WOMEN aren’t logical, MEN aren’t logical either. And if you’re honest about it, you’ll admit that you sometimes respond in STRANGE AND UNUSUAL WAYS to a woman’s flighty and manipulative behaviors. Some of these types of crazy things that women do drive men WILD with desire and even jealousy… and often lead to OBSESSION. It’s a crazy world, huh? WHY I’M TELLING YOU ALL THIS I say these things not because I want to piss you off. No. I say them because I want you to start thinking about these types of things in a DIFFERENT WAY. I want you to realize that the simple fact that a particular woman that you’re interested in doesn’t NEED you… and does things that clearly demonstrate it… often make her even MORE ATTRACTIVE to you. Well guess what? THE SAME GOES when it comes to making WOMEN feel ATTRACTION for YOU. In other words, instead of getting UPSET with women for doing these things, LEARN FROM THEM. And then use what you learn to create that magical emotion called ATTRACTION inside of women you’re interested in. IS THIS MANIPULATION? I can hear it now. The first response I often hear when I start talking this way, and recommending that men use what they learn to actually CAUSE women to feel ATTRACTION, usually goes something like this: “But David, if I consciously do things to make women feel attracted to me, aren’t I manipulating them?” Most of us guys want to be “good guys”. We don’t like to lie, cheat, and steal. And we don’t like to do sneaky things that don’t FEEL RIGHT. I get it. But here’s the BIG DIFFERENCE. When I recommend a technique, for instance: “Don’t act like a Wussy.” “Give her the gift of missing you.” “Tease and bust her balls.” “Date other women.” “You be the one to end calls, dates, and other interactions… and do it a little too soon… on an up note.” …I’m NOT recommending that you do secret, deceptive things to “trick her into liking you”. NOOOOOO. Instead, I’m teaching you the principals of ATTRACTION. I’m teaching you examples of things to do that communicate a FAR MORE IMPORTANT IDEA… THAT YOU’RE NOT A NEEDY WUSS. The more you actually DO these things, the more you begin to “get it”, and become the type of guy that women are naturally drawn to. BACK TO WHERE WE STARTED At the beginning of this newsletter I told you that an ATTRACTIVE WOMAN is the best dating teacher there is…because she does things that ALMOST NATURALLY AMPLIFY the ATTRACTION that men feel for her. One of the KEYS to this natural ability is communicating that she doesn’t NEED the particular guy that she’s with. When she does these little things to communicate that she doesn’t NEED a particular guy, those things tend to AMPLIFY the ATTRACTION that the guy feels. We’ve all had it happen to us many times, so I know that you know exactly what I’m talking about. So from now on, instead of getting UPSET at women for calling at the last minute to cancel plans, getting annoyed when they talk to other guys, etc., LEARN FROM IT. Use it to understand how YOU should approach an ATTRACTIVE WOMAN… and how to behave so that YOU are the one who creates and amplifies the attraction in HER. Organizing a School Classroom Party

By Pam Lester Before the party Its always a good idea to talk to the teacher before you start planning your party or purchasing items. You may plan everything ahead of time and then come to find out that a student has an allergy or that certain decorations arent allowed. Here are some good questions to start with: Do any children have food allergies? Usually the teacher will have been notified if any children have food allergies. Are there any decorating restrictions? Most teachers recommend not bringing balloons because of possible safety issues, but if they are allowed they make for quick and easy decorating! How long will I have to set up before the party? The answer to this question is really important. This will determine the type of party that you will have. If you have only a very short time, you will have to limit your decorations and serve easy and quick party foods, etc. Most of the time, the teachers will take the kids outside and allow you about 10-15 min. for setup. This is also a good time to make sure that you will have parent helpers! Do you allow holiday-specific themed parties, or do you prefer general holiday parties? Some schools/teachers prefer to stay away from the specific holiday and steer more towards the general season, so be sure to check with your teacher. Even if they want you to stick with a seasonal theme, youll probably be able to throw in some holiday ideas too. Example: your teacher may want you to stick with a fall theme instead of Halloween, but you will probably be able to put a Ghost Lollipop into their gift bag, etc. Just make sure to check on any restrictions. Are there any food items that arent allowed? Some schools/teachers prefer no soda pop for a party, and sometimes frown on wrapped hard candies so be sure to check if there are any rules/preferences. Are classroom supplies available to use for the party? If you need to use items like glue sticks, tape, or scissors for your party craft dont assume that the teacher will let you use the class supply. Check with her first to see if that is okay if not be sure to bring your own supplies. This question also applies if you want to play music during the party. The teacher may have a CD player in the class, but be sure that you will be able to use it! Even though you are the room rep, you will still need other parents help for the party so be sure to ask for volunteers to bring items, and to help you with the party itself. Be sure to send home reminders! Make a party plan including a schedule of what you want to do. Purchase and prepare all supplies that are needed. If you are doing a craft, I recommend pre-cutting and sorting the supplies into a zip lock bag for each child, and putting a basket with glue/scissors, etc into the middle of each table. It makes it much easier to pass out the craft supplies if they are already prepared in individual baggies! Assemble goodie bags or any take-home gifts ahead of time as well. Use class-parties.com to help plan your event and to gather your food ideas, crafts and party games. Setting up party Try to get to the school a little bit earlier than planned. The parking lot usually fills up fast on party days so the earlier you are the closer you get to park, and that makes a BIG difference when you are lugging all the party stuff around. Party supplies, crafts, food and juice boxes can be heavy and cumbersome so bring along a rolling cart or a wagon to make the trip from the car to the classroom a breeze. Most teachers take their students out of the room during your party set up but be prepared if that doesnt happen. You can bring along themed coloring pages and markers or crayons, or have music or a movie playing. Just be prepared in case! Ask your parent helpers to be there early to help you set up. I recommend passing out all the food and drinks first so when the kids come back in, they can sit down and start eating right away. Set up the rest of your activities and decorations. ***Be sure to make a plate for the teacher!!!*** This should be a relaxing and fun time for the kids and the teacher! During the party Class parties are fun and memorable for kids, so be sure to bring along a camera to catch those memories! The pictures can be shared with the teachers and parents or even put in a school newsletter! Try to find music to go with the party. It really helps set the mood and the kids love it. You can also use the music as a quick back-up game if needed (musical chairs, dance/freeze, etc.) Have a parent helper go around with a trash bag during the party to clean up after the kids, and another parent assigned to help with refills or seconds. The kids should usually eat first, and then play a game (if planned). While the game is going on you can clear the desks for a craft or activity if you have one set up. If you are doing a craft make sure to write the childs name on it so they dont get theirs mixed up with their neighbor. If you want to do two things, but only have time for one activity ( either a craft OR a game, but not both), then you can set up two stations and have the class do the game while the other does the craft; then have them switch. You can find TONS of free crafts and games at www.class-parties.com! You should be the one in charge of how things progress during the party and make sure that things move along. This should be a fun time for the teacher, but if there are discipline problems you should probably refer the student to the teacher and let her take care of the problem. Party getting too loud or out of hand? Bring a book along with you that relates to the holiday or season. Its good to have as a back-up in case your class gets too rowdy. You can call them to sit in a circle and read a quick and interesting story to them. Theyll quiet down pretty quickly, but will still be having fun! Check the reading list on class-parties.com for great book suggestions. Watch that clock! Make sure that you are finishing up on time. Most class parties take place during the end of the school day, so you will need to wrap up the party on time to allow students to get their backpacks ready and lined up for dismissal. After the party Make sure the children have their goody bags and/or take home projects as they leave to go home. Use extra trash bags to pick up all the trash and leftover food. If you have extra un-opened juice boxes save those for the next party. Wipe down desks and tables and clean up the floor, and take down any decorations you brought. The teacher will appreciate it if you put the classroom back the way it was before you got there (maybe a bit cleaner!). Be sure to send thank you notes to the parents who helped during the party!
