By Ben R. You learned in part 1 of this article series about steps 1 and 2 about how you can proof to people your real on myspace. Now you will learn the final steps 3-7. Step 3 Do what Myspace recommends: shoot a picture of yourself holding up an 8 x 11 piece of paper with your Myspace url address, the actual date, sign your name, and say something to the effect that this is the real such and such. Why does Myspace say for women or men - but 99% of the time or women to do this you wonder? Fake pictures of women on Myspace or other dating site profiles are rampant for fronts for porn sites, guys creating female profiles to talk dirty with other unknowing guys. I know yuck! I’m saying yuck that a guy or a girl for that matter would stoop to that sick crap to get off or to screw with someone’s head. What happens is the women with all professional pictures catch or find out about all these other women, companies, or guys stealing their pictures and putting them up on their profile. The woman who really is that person gets pissed off and complains to the world and to Myspace. Myspace can’t do anything. How do they know which person’s profile is legit? Because you say you’re real, and those pictures really are you? Sorry, that doesn’t cut it anymore in this world, online, or even with Myspace. Myspace will ask both parties involved to take a picture of themselves holding up an 8 x 11 sign (fax or printer paper) with their Myspace url address. Also, write the actual date the picture was taken, sign your name, and say something to the effect of “This is the real (your name here) and this is my official Myspace profile name.” When one woman does this and the other doesn’t, Myspace will then conclude the woman who does is the real one and delete the other’s profile completely off Myspace or delete all the pictures of the other person. Step 4 Put your Myspace name or Myspace profile web site address on every one of your pictures, so people know they’re yours. It’s much tougher for anyone else to steal and use them. What so many people online do - not just Myspace - is they simply mouse over your picture, then right click, then “save picture as” and viola! They have a .jpg or .gif picture of you on their computer to do as they please. Scary I know. Then they open an account on Myspace, upload your pictures and boom! They just stole your identity! The better looking you are, the more at-risk you are for this to happen to you! Step 5 Make sure you have a close-up picture of yourself, so people can actually see your face. How many times have you seen a fuzzy or far off picture of someone, and they never have a good picture of themselves or a close-up? Hmmmmm, why is that? Because they’re usually hiding something, and it’s never good! Maybe they’re married, attached, horrifically ugly, or whatever. Get over yourself and show a close-up please. I don’t care if you have acne, moles, pimples, big chin, crooked nose, braces, or whatever. People want to see your beautiful eyes, your cute little nose, rosy cheeks, soft eyebrows, stunning smile, and luscious lips. Step 6 Have an audio recording of yourself talking when people hit on your profile page, so they can hear your real voice. Almost no profiles on Myspace have the person’s real voice on them. There are band songs and videos on most people’s sites, but no personalization at all. When you do audio, you’re breaking the online barrier and making it more personal and intimate with people. They can hear your accent, your laugh, giggle, even your smile, your passion, the tone and reflection in your voice. Outside of actually seeing you, audio is the next best thing. How many times have you wondered what a person’s voice would sound like? I do all the time. This is especially important if you’re on Myspace for reasons besides making friends and for personal reasons like me. Think of Myspace as your own little radio or TV station, and it’s FREE. Like public radio and TV which transformed the media in the last couple decades. Step 7 Write blogs. Fake people and profiles don’t blog at all. This again lets people into your little world and how you think or don’t think for that matter. It also makes it more interactive than letting people just send you a comment. I checked Myspace and less than of 1% of people on Myspace blog on any given day! 99.5% of people never or rarely ever blog. That blows my mind! Blogging can also be a great way to vent, rant, and I discovered it to be very therapeutic for myself as well. Doesn’t matter if you can spell worth a dang or have the worse grammar possible. It’s about the message you convey and nothing more. English class is now long over for most of us, thank God! Again, we have the vast majority of people on Myspace that are what I call “zoo” people. You know, you’re at the zoo, you stop by the giraffe’s area and you look at the giraffe for a few minutes. You probably never read the information that the zoo provides on giraffes. Then, boom! You’re on to the hippos! Same thing on Myspace, people are treating you like the giraffes - never reading your blogs or profile and just looking at the pretty pictures then off to the next animal exhibit on Myspace.
